The songwriting and muscianship on this album are incredible. Umphreys McGee's studio albums from Safety in Numbers to this release are some of the most career spanning perfect albums since Rush Hemispheres to Grace Under Pressure. I hope this album isnt the bookend at the end of a perfect body of work (killer track after killer track) but I would be happy if it were.

A damn fine album despite not being as proggy as I might have liked. The 45rpm vinyl pressing is pristine and wonderful fidelity, a must-have for any UM fan! The band never disappoints!

The BEST Umphrey’s McGee album yet! And by Far……. Great lyrics, impeccable sound, and the production that went into this record I can tell was very tedious. It sounds even better on vinyl. With my copy I had no idea that the vinyl was intended to be played on ‘45 setting using our record players. Is that how all these records were pressed??? I was a bit surprised of this and the reasoning??? Anyone have an idea? My A/B copy is a little warped but still plays fine. Hopefully it will flatten out in time. Again, overall, best FULL UM record yet in their career as a band.

To me, Asking For A Friend is the album of the year! It really is a shame that UM is hardly known in Germany, but maybe they could change that by offering this fantastic album on vinyl in the usual stores (amazon, jpc, ...). My favourites (and there really is NO weak song on this album) are New Wings, Dayville Monarchy (Alan Parson's Project with balls), Pure Saturation and Escape Goat - and then all the others. Sound and production are perfect. To the band: PLEASE make this available on vinyl in Germany!

New Wings is a great song! I like the lyrics "falling back in time... talking circles... just like we've rehearsed a thousand times" Story of my life.... This is a great driving music!

Just like everyone else, I’ve only heard two tracks from the upcoming Umphrey’s McGee album “Asking For A Friend”, but if those songs are any indication of what’s to come I can’t wait for July 1st (which btw seems like a looong time to wait). Just look at these song titles; who the fuck knows what ‘Escape Goat’ can deliver in five minutes and thirty-seven seconds? I sure don’t. Let’s all just enjoy the fact that UM is still making new music that was recorded at Jake’s Boondock Studio, and we can look forward to 14 new songs that will be added to the massive Umphrey’s McGee oeuvre. Yes, I used the word oeuvre in this review because I am first and you can’t tell me what to do.
