Umphrey’s McGee and STS9 roared into the windy city of Chicago and embarked on Northerly Island to rage the FirstMerit Bank Pavilion in front of the hometown masses. While the sun was still setting behind the beautiful Chicago skyline, STS9 kicked off the night with a bang, going straight into “This, Us.” The powerful set featured the Liquid Horns supporting the band for several tracks delivering the brass tax. A beautiful mid-set “Circus” elevated the crowd, and later in the set David Murphy commented on the full moon shining upon the crowd before playing a gigantic “Moon Socket.”
Umphrey’s McGee then took the stage with a rocking rendition of “Le Blitz” transitioning smoothly into an extended improvisational version of “Bridgeless.” Jefferson Waful continued to amaze everyone with his face-melting light show. STS9 joined Umphrey's McGee on stage for a monumental cover of David Bowie's "Let's Dance." The crowd begged for more, and Bayliss promised their return back to Chicago very soon.
